I was painting the other day and wondered if I had added too much color to the sky behind the horizon line. Here’s the painting—still rough and not at all finished—at the beginning of the background layering process.
What do you think? Too much background pink? Too bold and colorful for a realistic Great Lakes sky?
I got a good laugh about an hour later when I just happened to look up West Huron Avenue in Rogers City, Michigan.
What did I see?
A 100% Great Lakes area sky. No photo adjusting or filters.
Just, as they say on the license plates, Pure Michigan!
