Great Lakes Lovelies Art Series
Hello Everyone!
I often get super strong artistic urges. (This can be a blessing or a curse. LOL)
A couple of weeks ago I kept feeling I should create a new art series called Great Lakes Lovelies. So many people seem so tired and stressed or really annoyed, especially after ugly 2020, so I thought a series of soft (almost pastel colored) paintings might brighten someone’s mood, make someone smile, or bring into the world a little more happiness and good cheer.
Here are some photos of the first four paintings. Many of you know I fell deeply in love with the Great Lakes as a teen, and so much of my art reflects my love affair with this amazing area. My goal for this series was not some super cool style or technique but for the art to gently and lovingly create positive and uplifting feelings in others. In simple yet wonderful ways, I wanted to let the beauty of Nature come through the art.
I chose the Great Lakes as a background. As the largest group of freshwater lakes on Earth by total area, they often appear amazingly gentle and stress free. With barely a ripple on many days, I find them ideal to paint—and paint from.
The skies around the Great Lakes also amaze me. The air always seems to smell so delicious, and I get great background detail since I can easily see for miles and miles.
For flower inspiration, I never have far to look. Yards, flower boxes, and lakeside decks come alive with flowers in Spring. Here are some happy flower photos for you to enjoy. All of them come from different little places right within my very bee and butterfly friendly Rogers City, Michigan art studio yard and gardens.
