There are always lots of GREAT things happening around the Great Lakes, but I’m always WOWED by my lakeside town’s abundance of generosity and mutuality.

As I was preparing to open up my studio on 193 West Huron Avenue (and thinking I should hold off until Covid numbers got lower), I got a call from Kathy at our local plumbing, heating, and cooling company. The Marx brothers, who own Zgorski-Micketti (ZM for short), have always been really good to me. They always have fabulous Fall and Summer heating/air maintenance specials, and when my heat suddenly went out on a super cold weekend morning, Scott Marx came over within minutes and soon had everything toasty warm again. Great people, great service, and now great mutuality between my art and their business.

The reason for Kathy’s call was to offer me an entire showroom where I could display my art. I thought it was part of the new June 11th Rogers City Art Walk, where downtown businesses and artists will team up for a fun Friday night, but it wasn’t. It was Mike Marx, out of the generosity of his heart, thinking it would be a great idea for me, for Zgorski-Micketti, but especially for the entire community, where anyone could walk in and view lots of happy, evidence-based, and often Great Lakes inspired art.

I’m so excited! So much will be happening in Rogers City this summer. To start, Spring Fest 2021 on June 5th from 10-4 in gorgeously green Westminster Park will feature arts, crafts, bake sales, and delicious farmer’s market produce. I plan to be downtown and painting outdoors, right in front of Zgorski-Micketti. The doors to the display gallery area will also be open for your viewing pleasure. The art is fun and upbeat, and I’d just love it if you stopped by and said HI!
