This painting is part of my SYSTEMS FAILURE Art Series. In this 15-painting themed art collection, I’m disturbed and troubled and an artist looking for real answers to our societal systems failures. The artist in me sees our health systems (no fault of our excellent healthcare professionals) are failing. The artist in me sees that many of our governmental systems have already failed us. The artist sees our communication systems, filled with so many incivilities and lies, are in need of serious repair—and all this was before the ravages of Covid, riots, election wars, and the attack on the Capitol. For more than half of this abstract series, I intuitively create compositions with “doors” within the art. It takes much discovery, but I finally move through each door and gain insight and hope for our systems and our future. SYSTEMS FAILURE is a modern abstract art series with a real beginning, real middle and happy end. Like a moment or event in time, The Doorway is a colorful and happy work of abstract art; yet, its connection to the more serious Systems Failure Art Series will continue on.
