Who says you need water in a painting to capture the feel of a lake or the sea?
I was trained to capture images and scenes and put them on canvas when I was 7/8 years old. During my childhood I spent many days, weeks, and even months painting and playing in the sand by the sea.
On the islands off the coast of Maine, I remember driving past many old New England homes with wild flower gardens. In Newburyport, Massachusetts I remember the Plum Island sand dunes with their long stemmed grasses. From Massachusetts to New Hampshire and then up the coast of Maine, from boat as well as by land, I still remember those awesome cliffs and rocks and the slamming of the seas.
This painting brought me back to my childhood where the wild flowers grow and the grassy stems stick out of the sand. The blue background reminds me of beautiful skies and seas.
